We started writing with extended range guitars, first with 7 strings on "Mindravel" and then moving to 8 strings and making all of the new ones on the 8 strings. Justin would later reignite his old band Etheric Plague with 8 string guitars before moving on to 9 strings (!!!) for his band Demonfuck. "Mindravel" is where the extended range itch started though and it went into the live set around this time. We also played "Pyramid Scheme" for at least one show that I can remember. This album also features Franz, who was in Extremely Rotten and Infiinite Earths at the time, as the new vocalist on 2, 3, and 4. I distinctly remember tracking vocals with him while cramped into my small childhood bedroom, all 6' 3" of him, along with Justin and myself while him and I were not on very good terms, as my parents sat in their living room, probably wondering what the hell he was screaming/barfing about. I had fallen on hard times and had to live with them for a little bit, but I still found time to expose my parents to this weird musical addiction that I had been already fostering for decades at that point. Life is weird and comes at you fast, but exposing your parents to the inner workings of a death metal recording is timeless.
